Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 10, 2026
She Leads Tech Africa ("we," "us," "our") runs this website to manage mentorship programs, events, membership, and community for young African women in tech. This policy explains what information we collect through the site, how we use it, and how it's stored.
1. Information we collect
We collect information you give us directly, through the site's forms:
- Account information — email address and password (or your Google account, if you sign in with Google) when you create an account.
- Member profile — name, phone number, date of birth, country, gender, area of interest, occupation, LinkedIn profile, a short bio, and an optional profile photo, submitted through the "Become a Member" form.
- Applications and submissions — information you submit through the program application, executive application, partnership application, event registration, contact, donation, and newsletter forms.
We do not use advertising trackers or third-party analytics cookies on this site.
2. How we use your information
- To create and manage your member account.
- To review and process applications (programs, executive roles, partnerships).
- To register you for events you sign up for.
- To respond to inquiries submitted through the contact form.
- To record donation pledges (see Section 5 — donations are not yet processed as live payments).
- To operate and improve the site.
3. Where your information is stored
We use a small number of infrastructure providers to run this site, and your information is only ever shared with them as necessary to operate it — never sold, and never shared with anyone else for marketing purposes:
- Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) — handles account sign-in. Your password is verified directly by Firebase; it is never sent to or stored on our own servers.
- Cloudflare — our database (member profiles and form submissions), file storage (profile photos), and website hosting all run on Cloudflare's infrastructure.
4. Email communication
At this time, this site does not send automated emails (approval notices, confirmations, newsletters, etc.) — that capability is still being built. If that changes, this policy will be updated to name the email provider we use before it goes live.
5. Donations
The donate page currently records a donation pledge — your intent to give, along with the amount and your contact details. No payment is actually processed yet; live payment processing is planned but not active. No card or payment information is collected through this site today.
6. Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the information we hold about you at any time by reaching out through the Contact page. If you'd like to unsubscribe from the newsletter, contact us and we'll remove you.
7. Young members
She Leads Tech Africa welcomes young women and girls. If you are under 18, we encourage you to involve a parent or guardian when creating an account or submitting an application.
8. Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the information you share with us, including relying on Firebase's and Cloudflare's security practices for authentication and data storage. No online system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
As the organization and this website grow, this policy may change. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when it does.
10. Contact us
