It started with one question: where are the women?
She Leads Tech Africa began as a small WhatsApp group of women swapping job leads and tutorial links, frustrated by how few women showed up in tech meetups across their cities. What we kept hearing was the same story in different accents — talented women who wanted to break into tech but had no clear path, no mentor, and no community to fall back on when things got hard.
So we built the path ourselves. Starting with a handful of volunteer mentors and a single cohort, we structured what used to be informal advice into real mentorship cycles — with tracks, timelines, and accountability. Today, that small WhatsApp group has grown into a pan-African community of members, volunteers, and executives working across dozens of countries.
We're still early. But every cycle, every event, and every membership ID downloaded is proof the model works — and that there's a real hunger for this across the continent.
